"What's Possible?" is a question of vital concern to progressive educators, artists and activists as well as ordinary people throughout the world in these chaotic times. What we believe to be possible determines "what" we try to change and "how" we try to do it. How do human beings come to our collective conclusions about what's possible and what's not? How are the borders of the possible established by various cultures? Are there ways to break out of established ways of understanding/interfacing with reality? Can we create new ways of seeing and bringing into being new possibilities? Explore these and other questions with performance activist Dan Friedman who has been active in creating environments for the emergence of new possibilities for 35 years.

Dan Friedman, Ph.D has been active in experimental and community-based theatre and education since the late 1960s. He is the associate dean of UX, a free community-based school of continuing development for people of all ages in New York City, as well as the artistic director of the Castillo Theatre, which he helped to found in 1984. Friedman has written or co-written 18 plays and, in addition to his work at Castillo, he has directed at La Mama, the Nuyorican Poets Caf? and at various New York City colleges. Friedman has taught at Baruch and York Colleges of the City University of New York and at the Fashion Institute of Technology. He will be teaching a course in "Performance Activism" at Harvard University in the fall of 2017.
